About Me

I am a happily-married Louisiana native who recently retired after over 30 years in the field of education.

My college major was in journalism and social science education and I went on to earn my M. Ed. in secondary school administration.

My interests include fishing on both of my family ponds, messing with photography, visiting the Destin-area of Florida, taking trips to see the grandkids who all live out-of-state and lovin' on my soul mate, Nancy. We both love animals and take care of a herd of Chihuahuas and other dogs.

One of my most-recent hobbies has become working on my family tree. My Chandler line goes back to John Chandler, who was born in 1600 and came over to Jamestown when he was around 10 years old.

If you are a Chandler, my family descends from the John, Robert, Robert, Joseph, Joseph, James, Richardson, Stephen, Newton, Elijah Charles, Donald Elijah lineage. That would make me a member of the Chandler DNA Group 7A.

I have had my Y-DNA tested for 67 markers and have located several near matches.

I am a distant cousin of pianist Van Cliburn (not his real given name) and Joel Chandler Harris.

My sweet mother was Marie Kateen Golden. She and my father married on March 12, 1949, after daddy came home from fighting in World War 2 at Guadalcanal in the South Pacific.

My paternal grandfather passed away in December before I was born and I never met my maternal grandfather.
